Why does ContactsLaw allow me to register the same e-mail twice?

ContactsLaw treats e-mails as documents that are hosted in external applications (for example, Microsoft Outlook). Different e-mail clients expose a different subset of details for each e-mail; ContactsLaw can therefore only examine the details that are common across various applications. For this reason, there is no way to determine whether any two given e-mails are the same - thus ContactsLaw allows the same e-mail to be registered multiple times.

There are, however, some legitimate cases for registering a document multiple times; for example, as a mechanism to create editable copies of the document.

To avoid accidental registration of the same e-mail, we encourage the use of the 'Delete original document(s) after registration' option. Where multiple members of the firm receive the same message, a policy determining who registers the message should be implemented.
